An Outstanding Restoration at 7 Bimbeen Street Turvey Park

7 Bimbeen Street Turvey Park Wagga is a federation built property that was extensively fire damaged in 2016. Troy Raulston Homes rebuilt the property from the shell up. The focus of the build was to keep as much of the original appeal as possible being in a heritage conservation area.

Troy Raulston worked closely with the owner to recreate a property that held so much heart;

  • –  Leadlight windows and stained entry door glass was restored to original
  • –  Cast iron wood heater with mental piece in the main formal living zone
  • –  Timber featured corbels to front façade
  • –  New cypress pine flooring installed to entire residence
  • –  Original brickwork restored and featured in the kitchen & entry wall Construction difficulties:
  • –  The heat exposed to the render of the walls made the render drummy
  • –  Going from an original conventional cut in roof to a truss roof supporting internal double brick walls
  • Innovative construction techniques included:
  • –  Existing brick walls had a lot of rising damp which was rectified by a chemical injection into the base of the brickwork
  • –  The floorplan was refocused to allow for free-flowing family living with generous proportions
  • –  Knocked down internal brick walls to create open plan living zones
  • –  The residence was a 4 bedroom with 1 bathroom. Upon reflection we introduced an en-suiteoff the master bedroom all under the existing roof line, being mindful of future resale

Travers Street Wagga – HIA & Southern NSW Award Winner

The ‘Travers St Development’ incorporates an infill development which brings variety to the already established Travers Street. Articulation in material selection and building form to the facades is prominent to achieve a sense of quality. The opportunity to achieve a contemporary industrial look has been portrayed in the box-like forms and strong horizontal elements of the unit. This unit also incorporates the key priorities of contemporary sustainable building design and quality landscaping for R3 zoning. The street appeal of the existing neighbouring area has been a design focus for the development overall, with the absence of garages and parking strictures. This allows the facades and landscape to dominate. The design consideration was also influenced by the northern orientation of the units.
